Academic reporting Semester 1 2022
Academic reporting involves communicating information to parents, carers and students about student achievement and progress for each learning area/subject undertaken, at a point in time. School reporting processes are clear and transparent for parents/carers, so they understand:
- the learning expectations for the student
- the student’s achievement against expected standards
- how well the student is engaging with the expected learning
- how the student may be able to improve
Reporting is based on evidence. Reports reflect:
- judgments about the quality of student learning, based on evidence collected during the reporting period
- the student’s most consistent level of achievement with consideration to more recent evidence.
Semester One Report Cards
As we approach the end of Semester 1, teachers are very busy finalising assessment. At the same time, our students are very busy completing assessment items and demonstrating how much they have learned this year so far. At Currimundi State School, our teachers are highly capable, dedicated and hardworking. We certainly appreciate the great work they do in classrooms every day and how hard they are working right now preparing report cards.
Please take the time to thank your child‘s/children‘s class teacher/s this week for the great work they have done throughout this challenging year to ensure students are actively engaged and learning to their fullest potential.
What do the A-E standards really mean?
Reporting has changed quite a lot over the past few years so it is important that you know what the A-E standards really mean. Did you realise that a ‘C’ on a report means that your child is achieving AT year level expectations? A ‘B‘ or an ‘A‘ indicates deep knowledge and understanding of the subject and content and an ability to apply their learning flexibly in new or less familiar contexts. This term, students have engaged with a modified curriculum and assessment program due to the impacts of the Coronavirus pandemic and their achievement standard (A-E) may reflect this.
